The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office will begin relocating certain facilities and services to its new headquarters on Friday, Sept. 11, temporarily impacting public access.
The District 1 Substation on Norwood Avenue will be closed and begin relocating to the new facility at the Florida Blue building on Riverside Avenue. The sheriff’s office initially said the substation would close on Sept. 14.
“During the relocation, performer work applications / renewals and associated fees for replaced / lost cards will be accepted at the District 4 Substation,” the sheriff’s office said. That substation is located inside the Cedar Hills Shopping Center on Blanding Boulevard.
The substation’s prescription drug drop box will also be unavailable during the relocation process.
The public counter at the soon-to-be former headquarters on E. Bay Street will also close Friday. It is expected to reopen at the new headquarters on Monday, Sept. 28.
More information about public parking at the Riverside Avenue headquarters and the exact location for these relocated services will be provided at a later date.
“JSO appreciates the community’s support and patience during the move, which helps the agency more effectively serve and protect the growing population in Jacksonville,” the sheriff’s office said Thursday.
The expanded space will also allow the agency to consolidate its various evidence and equipment warehouses around the city into a central location.
