Key Biscayne residents, Miami-Dade County and City of Miami officials and wind sports athletes will officially celebrate the grand opening of PADL Wind Club at Crandon Park.

The facility is also a waterfront adventure hub for wind sports including kitesurfing, wing foiling, paddleboarding and kayaking.

The event is scheduled for 3 p.m., on Friday, September 11, at 6767 Crandon Blvd. in Key Biscayne.

According to its web site, PADL is Florida’s premier outfitter for outdoor recreational experiences. With multiple locations statewide, adventure is always within reach. Choose experiences from guided tours, windsurfing lessons and foil, learn to sail catamaran or rentals and explore some of Florida’s most stunning waterways.

The grand opening will be filled with activities and food.

Participants will enjoy paella and beer, kitesurfing films, giveaways from PADL, Adventure Sports USA, Cabrinha and Dakine and an evening with South Florida’s wind sports community including a session on the water.

Since its opening in 1947, Crandon Park has been a municipal public park, providing facilities such as beaches, golf courses, tennis centers, marinas, picnic areas and nature centers.

Miami-Dade County’s Parks and Recreation Department oversees all park operations and maintenance.

County officials decided to add PADL Wind Club at Crandon Park as part of a broader effort to expand and professionalize access to modern watersports in South Florida.

Crandon Park is one of the most consistent and accessible locations for kitesurfing, wing foiling, and other wind sports in the region.

Miami’s steady easterly trade winds, combined with warm, flat and protected bay water make it ideal for learning and riding.

Adding PADL to the venue was aimed at meeting the growing demand for high-quality, self-service and guided watersports experiences.

In addition, PADL operates multiple clubs across South Florida, including Hobie Beach and Virginia Key, and Crandon Park’s addition integrates it into a regional network.

This allows riders to access a variety of venues, gear and instruction, while also offering group activities like PADL’s youth summer camps.
