MIAMI —
The bodies of four family members from Miami were recovered after a small plane crash near the Bahamas.
Their family identified them as Mario Lamar Sr., 80, and Lili Lamar, 79, and their grandchildren, Sofi Sosa, 28, and Christian Sosa, 22.
At approximately 2 p.m. Monday, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force requested Coast Guard assistance following the report of the incident.
The Coast Guard said the small plane went down 15 miles off the coast of Andros Island just before 2:30 p.m.

The family was traveling to Miami Executive Airport in Opa-locka.
Mario Lamar was “an experienced pilot with more than 40 years of flying experience,” the family said Monday in a statement.
The cause of the plane crash is unknown at this time.
This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
