HAVANA, Fla. (WCTV) -Woodcarvers and craftsmen gathered in Havana Saturday for the 4th annual “Havana Woodfest.”
The event, hosted by Havana Main Street, drew hundreds of people to see the work of more than 40 vendors, both local and from out of town.
Along with unique woodwork, attendees could also enjoy food trucks and live music.
Organizers say the woodwork featured at the festival is something you won’t find at any other festival.
Craftsman Willis Rabon says some of his pieces are pretty unique.
“I am particularly fond of my little elf houses and elf doors. If you want the help of the little people who come into your house, you need to have a little door.”
Organizers say the event is also a huge boost for the town, bringing more foot traffic and thousands of dollars into the community.
Gadsden County Commissioner Alonzetta Simpkins says events like Woodfest are important for bringing people into Havana and supporting local businesses.
“Being able to, one, bring the community together, but not just our community; we’re talking about the 13,000 cars that pass on 27 daily being able to bring those individuals as well. Important to our businesses here, picks up our economic development here.”
Organizers say this is just the beginning of their event season.
Pumpkin Fest is coming up Saturday, October 10, followed by Winterfest on December 12.
