Allegiant Air is launching 11 new nonstop routes from Fort Lauderdale between February 2026 and February 2027. Five began service in February; six more will follow by early 2027. Most routes serve seasonal leisure demand, filling gaps left by Spirit Airlines’ exit.

Five new routes launched in February 2026 from Fort Lauderdale to Albany, Chattanooga, Chicago Rockford, Rochester, and Trenton. Four more-Boston, Kansas City, Omaha, and Pittsburgh-will start in October 2026, mostly using Boeing 737 MAX 8-200s. Pittsburgh will also see Airbus A320 service. Two final routes to Portsmouth and Providence begin in February 2027, with minimal frequency.

Fort Lauderdale is now Allegiant’s sixth-busiest base overall and fourth in Florida, with 104 weekly departures in mid-October-a 55% year-over-year increase. The airline’s hyper-seasonal model means some routes pause during off-peak months. Flights to Rochester, Chattanooga, and Rockford are currently suspended, resuming in October or later.

Why it matters

Travelers gain new seasonal connections to Florida from northern cities, but must plan around limited operating months. Missing a route’s active window could mean no direct service for months, forcing longer layovers or higher fares on competing carriers.
