Florida woman sets woman pumping gas into SUV on fire, police say

Florida police are investigating after a 41-year-old woman was set on fire while pumping gas into her SUV.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said it occurred on Sept. 10 at the Mobil Gas Station on 40th Avenue North. Police said Eleanor Crawford walked up to the victim and deliberately ignited gasoline with a lighter.

Police said the victim was seriously injured suffering second-degree burns and was transported to Tampa General Hospital. They also said the victim’s SUV was engulfed in flames.

Police said Crawford is facing two arson charges.

They said the suspect and the victim didn’t know each other and that the motive is unclear at this time.
