LARGO, Fla. — Drivers are still dealing with detours on Rosery Road in Largo, even though the project was originally set to be done in August.
Rosery Road has been open only to westbound traffic between Eagle Lake Park and Missouri Avenue for the past year-and-a-half.
The project is to enhance the road with drainage improvements, upgraded water mains and improved sidewalks.
Largo resident Greg Fudela said the construction has affected traffic and daily life near his home on Rosery Road.
“It was fine. Up until a year and a half ago, when they started doing this project,” Fudela said.
Fudela said he has dealt with noise, detours and debris near his home during the project.
“Oh, it’s been frustrating trying to drive around here. I mean, you have to loop around,” Fudela said.
Largo officials said the construction is continuing because a future pavement project was added to the end of the current project. They said that will extend the work until October, but it means drivers will not have to deal with another closure later. The city also says crews will clean up construction-related debris.
Fudela said he wants the work to be finished soon.
“It makes me almost want to put up a ‘For Sale’ sign in front of my house,” Fudela said. “I don’t want to listen to bulldozers and dump trucks every day. For a year-and-a-half?”
