Man struck, killed on Florida’s Turnpike, shutting down southbound lanes, FHP says – NBC 6 South Florida

A man was killed when he was hit by a car in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike early Wednesday, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Authorities said the crash happened near mile marker 11 (Southwest 216th Street) in Southwest Miami-Dade, and all southbound lanes were shut down. The lanes reopened by about 6:30 a.m.

According to FHP, a Honda Civic was going south when it hit the man, who was “standing outside of his vehicle which was stopped on the right emergency shoulder.”

The man, whose name has not been revealed, died at the scene.
