The legendary Tampa Am skateboarding competition returns in October

Someone’s gonna become a legend next month at Skatepark of Tampa.

That’s when best trick contests, concrete bowl jams and parties return for the Tampa Am tournament.

In its 32nd year, Tampa Am has become infamous for launching the professional careers of amateur skateboarders who spend time and money to prove themselves at the infamous venue.

The tournament—set for Oct. 15-18—brings skaters from across the globe to compete for judges and fans during official runs and side quest competitions.

Starting as a small competition for the 18,000-square-foot warehouse in 1995, the skatehouse launched the careers of notable once-amateur skateboarders including past winners like 2024 Olympic bronze medal winner Nyjah Huston (2005), Felipe Gustavo (2007) and Lazer Crawford (2023).

Thursday includes free spectator opportunities to watch registered skaters practice. Thursday night includes an open “Town Bowl Jam” contest where anyone can compete for a piece of a $600 purse.

Spectators must have tickets to watch practice on Friday when the park hosts a “Last Chance” open street qualifier where 150 skaters will compete for 30 spots (first place gets a spot in Sunday’s semifinals).

The tournament really takes off on Saturday for more qualifiers, a best trick contest ($1,800 purse), and more than $2,000 on the line during the nighttime concrete jam.

The Tampa Am finals go down on Sunday, with the champ taking the podium at 5 p.m.

The extended weekend event packs tons of partying and skating, plus an art show on Friday, live music and a costume contest on Saturday, and an after-party Sunday night after the awards ceremony.

Tickets for the Tampa Am happening Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 15-18 at Skatepark of Tampa are still available and start at $10.
