Largo, FL – A 10-vehicle crash in Largo sent four people to hospitals and closed part of a major Pinellas County roadway during the morning commute.
The collision occurred shortly before 7:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 13000 block of 66th Street North, just south of Ulmerton Road, according to the Largo Police Department.
Police said four people were transported to area hospitals. Three sustained serious bodily injuries, including one person whose condition was considered life-threatening. Six other people involved in the collision declined medical treatment.
Video from the area showed damaged vehicles spread across the roadway as police officers, firefighters and emergency medical crews responded. Debris covered portions of the street while investigators documented the scene.
Witnesses reported that a pickup truck was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed before striking several vehicles, many of which were stopped in traffic. Police had not confirmed those accounts or determined the sequence of the collision.
Traffic investigators continued examining the vehicles, roadway evidence and witness statements to determine what caused the crash. Preliminary findings indicated there were no signs of driver impairment.
Authorities did not announce any arrests or traffic citations, and no arrest report was available. The names of the drivers and passengers were not released.
Northbound 66th Street remained closed while investigators processed the scene and crews removed the damaged vehicles. Police diverted traffic at 126th Avenue North and advised motorists to avoid the area.
Officials did not provide an estimated reopening time. The investigation remained active, and police said additional information could be released after the review was completed.
