PORT ST. LUCIE – A 43-year-old Port St. Lucie resident faces drug charges; illegal weapon possession; and possession of drug paraphernalia after Port St. Lucie Police found a dead man in an apartment with cocaine and a syringe, according to an arrest affidavit.
Danilo Jaramillo of the 900 block of Southwest Longfellow Road in Port St. Lucie, was arrested Sept. 15 on five felony drug charges; three felony counts of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a felon; and a single misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jaramillo’s arrest came after an overdose death was discovered on Sept. 13 at an apartment in the 700 block of Southeast Collins Lane, Port St. Lucie, according to the arrest affidavit. The address is about nine miles south of Southwest Longfellow Road.
The deceased, identified as Miqueias Oliverira Silva, apparently had been dead for at least 24 hours, an officer wrote in the arrest affidavit.
A neighbor of Silva’s told police after calling 911 that he saw Silva get out of a black sport utility vehicle and go into the apartment.
In reviewing Silva’s phone, officers found messages regarding alleged drug deals starting in August with Jaramillo, who owns a black Kia sport utility vehicle, according to the arrest affidavit. Officers posing as Silva through the phone sent texts to Jaramillo to arrange a drug deal, according to the arrest affidavit.
Jaramillo drove to the Southwest Collins Lane address and was stopped by officers as he entered the apartment complex, according to the arrest affidavit.
Officers allegedly found fentanyl and cash in Jaramillo’s car while searching it, according to the arrest affidavit.
Police then searched Jaramillo’s home and found $17,715 in cash, cocaine and three firearms.
Jaramillo was taken into custody and is in the St. Lucie County Jail on a $351,000 bond as of Sept. 17, according to the jail web site.
