2026 Play Yellow Children’s Miracle Network golf event

For the past 32 years, Marriott Worldwide Business Councils Tampa has raised millions of dollars for critical care of children.

On Monday, Oct. 5 it is hosting the 2026 Play Yellow Children’s Miracle Network golf tournament and awards dinner at the Vinoy Golf Club, with proceeds benefitting John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

Play Yellow was launched in 2019 by Children’s Miracle Network, in partnership with Jack and Barbara Nicklaus and the PGA Tour. Its purpose is to raise crucial funds to support life-changing care, cutting-edge research, pediatric equipment and more at local children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada.

Check-in for the golf tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The event will conclude at 3 p.m. in the Sunset Ballroom with an awards reception and silent auction.

Volunteer for Fishing Funds the Cure

The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, dedicated to funding research to eliminate childhood cancer, is hosting its annual Fishing Funds the Cure 2026 Tampa Bay Tournament, Oct. 1-3 at the Island Grand at TradeWinds on St. Pete Beach.

The weekend kicks off with a Tropical Gala the evening of Thursday, Oct. 1. Fishing beings Friday, Oct. 2 and continues on Saturday, Oct. 3.  A barbecue dinner and awards ceremony concludes the event.

Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and breakdown, registration, dock assistance, handing out lunch, assisting with the silent auction and more.

A commitment of at least one three-hour shift is requested.

The Island Grand at TradeWinds is located at 5500 Gulf Boulevard, St. Pete Beach.

Volunteer to read with children

Bella’s Book Bridge’s mission is to bridge the gap between books and the children who need them. It delivers new and gently used children’s books to pediatric clinics, hospitals and shelters across the Tampa Bay area.

The organization is developing a monthly reading program that will bring volunteers into recreation centers throughout Pinellas County that serve children in communities with lower literacy rates.

Volunteers will visit participating recreation centers once a month to read with children and help make reading a fun and positive experience.

A commitment of a few hours per month during the week is requested.

Event photographer needed for Hero Games 2026

Hero Games 2026 is a charity cornhole tournament, hosted by Suncoast NPI – Oldsmar, taking place Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Pop Stansell Park in Palm Harbor.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Hero To A Child, a nonprofit organization that has transformed the lives of children and youth in the child welfare system for the past 35 years.

Organizers are seeking a volunteer photographer to capture photos throughout the event. Professional experience is not required, however, the volunteer must have their own phone, camera or other equipment to capture high-quality images.

Coverage for the entire event is preferred, but partial hours availability is welcome.

Pop Stansell Park is located at 797 Florida Avenue, Palm Harbor.

Hope Villages of America seeks volunteers

Hope Villages of America supports members of the community who are facing hunger, homelessness, domestic violence or a lack of basic needs. It is a cooperative of staff members, volunteers and partnering organizations that have joined together to provide reliable services within Pinellas County.

Volunteers are needed to serve as greeters and intake specialists at the Hope Villages of America food pantry, located at 700 Druid Road, Clearwater.

Duties include greeting guests and checking IDs, accessing guest records and issuing paperwork, reviewing forms for accuracy in the system database and other services.

The pantry is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday from noon until 4 p.m. Volunteers are asked to work about four hours per week for at least four months.
