A nice start to the weekend, some evening showers for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia

  • September 19, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Another pleasant start to our day, with humidity remaining tolerable this morning. If you have plans to be outside to begin your Saturday, the weather looks great.

Hot and dry most of the day

Expecting another hot afternoon, temperatures climbing into the low and mid-90s across the Big Bend and South Georgia. We will escape most of Saturday without a drop.

The humidity will slowly creep back in throughout the day. The increased moisture will bring more clouds and scattered rain and storms, mainly after 4 p.m. Not everyone will get rain, but some good downpours will hit more areas than we have seen recently, so pack an umbrella or raincoat just in case.

Sunday looks very similar, with scattered showers, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Plenty of dry time, especially in the morning to get yard work done. Starting the day in the low 70s, climbing into the low 90s tomorrow afternoon.

The weather pattern does not shift much between the weekend and early next week. A broad area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere continues to spin over the northern Gulf, keeping us slightly more humid with daily afternoon shower chances. Highs will stay above average in the low 90s, with sun and clouds in between showers. No day in the extended forecast looks like a washout.

Cooler and drier

A cool front will slide through the southeast later this week, dragging in some slightly cooler and drier air. This will not impact high temperatures much, but should help to bring humidity back down to how it felt the past few mornings. Highs in the upper 80s and morning lows near 70. Tuesday and Friday should be mostly sunny as well.

Water temperature: 87

Saturday: Mostly sunny and warm. Northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 1 to 2 feet. A light chop on bays and protected waters. A moderate rip current risk is expected today.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a chance for showers or thunderstorms. East winds 5 to 10 knots. The seas will be 1 foot or less. A light chop on the bays and protected waters.

Monday: Partly sunny with a chance for thundershowers. East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 1 foot or less. A light chop on the bays and protected waters.

Tracking the tropics

An area of interest is likely to become a tropical depression today. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of thunderstorms associated with low pressure near the Azores Islands. Development should be short-lived as the low drifts southwest and fights dust and shear.

Plenty of thunderstorm activity in the western Caribbean, off the Mid-Atlantic Coast and an upper-level low in the vicinity of the western peninsula of Florida. None of these have organized tropical characteristics for now.

Environmental conditions should turn more favorable late this month into early October. We will keep an eye on things. No concerns right now.
