PALM CITY, Fla. (CBS12) — Multiple agencies responded to an armed and dangerous subject barricaded inside a home on SW Bessy Creek Trail near Murphy Road on Saturday.

Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to reports of shots fired outside the residence. Additional calls indicated the incident was domestic-related and involved an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the sheriff’s office.

The subject barricaded himself inside the home, authorities said.

Road Patrol deputies, detectives, SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene.

The sheriff’s office later said the SWAT Team safely resolved the situation.

The sheriff’s office had asked people to avoid the area while deputies worked to resolve the incident.
