Martin County Fire Rescue extinguishes golf cart fire in Hobe Sound

The blaze spread to a nearby home.

Allen ConeHOBE SOUND, Fla. —

Martin County Fire Rescue firefighters extinguished a golf cart fire in Hobe Sound that spread to a nearby home on Saturday night.

The fire started just after 7 p.m. near the 8100 block of Southeast Eagle Avenue, just off Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway (Southeast Dixie Highway), the agency said.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames and confined the fire to the garage, porch and side of the home.

One patient reported minor injuries and smoke inhalation but refused transport.

Residents were able to return to their home.

Their cat had been missing, but firefighters found it safe inside the house. The State Fire Marshal has been notified and will investigate the cause of the fire.

“Nice stop by the following C-Shift crews: Ladder 33, Engine 30 & 32, Tender 44, EMS 3, Battalion 3, Rescue 301, 302 & 331,” the agency posted on Facebook.
