It’s game day in the Mile High City where the Denver Broncos hope to course correct in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars after an embarrassing defeat in opening weekend. The series is all tied up at 8-8 including playoffs with the Jaguars smoking the Broncos last year in Denver, 34-20. Before that, though, the Broncos had won four of five going back to 2016. Oddly enough, the Broncos have not beaten Jacksonville in their home stadium since 2013.
There are two big questions heading into this game for the Broncos. The first will be on defense. Can they actually tackle? If they had tackled well, they would have been the most dominant defense in the NFL last week as they led in first contact on run plays and shut Patrick Mahomes all the way down in the passing game. So maybe if they start tackling again, we won’t have much to complain about on defense.
The other question comes to Bo Nix. He had a terrible game all the around. We lit up Davis Webb, but Nix left a lot of big plays on the field by turtling up after that early interception. We’ll need to see a lot more confidence from him in Week 2 and Webb needs to commit to the run game a little earlier in this game.
If both of those questions get answered with a positive for Denver, then I think they actually win this game despite the Jaguars being a pretty good team in 2026.
