ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Two brothers were arrested Thursday after police say they fired a gun at a home where two people were sleeping.

According to Pinellas County arrest affidavits, the incident occurred on September 12 at 2:56 a.m. According to officials with St. Pete Police, the brothers were targeting a previous resident of the home.

“They were targeting someone specific that wasn’t there,” said Yolanda Fernandez with SPPD. “They didn’t live there anymore so unfortunately they could have ended up hurting innocent people who had nothing to do with it.”

Arrest papers said Andres Carlos Wong, 21, used a silver Buick SUV to circle a home on 45th Street multiple times, looking for a specific person he had a disagreement with. His 18-year-old brother, Francisco Emilino Wong, was the passenger.

After circling the home multiple times, arrest papers said Francisco told Andres to park the vehicle in the alley so he could exit with a high-caliber rifle.

After getting out of the car, Francisco fired numerous rounds into the home, arrest papers said.

The bullets passed through one side of the house, went over the top of two people sleeping in their bed, and exited the other side of the house.

“Sometimes people don’t realize the destruction that a firearm can cause and when they fired at this house they could have killed people that they didn’t even know and had no problem with, no dispute with,” said Fernandez.

Arrest papers said the brothers admitted to the crime post-Miranda. Andres reportedly told officers that he knew the shooting was about to occur while acting as the getaway driver.

Law enforcement recovered multiple firearms at the brothers’ home, one of which Francisco reportedly admitted he used in the crime. Fernandez says they are still working to learn where the rifle came from.

The brothers have been released on bond.
