Donalds campaigns in Central Florida, says he has Jay Collins’ endorsement, while Jolly shares video from ‘Data Center Alley’ visit

Our top story tonight: the Florida Governor’s race.

Republican candidate Byron Donalds spent much of his day Tuesday in Central Florida, holding two separate events, where he announced he has received the endorsement of Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, who was previously Donalds’ opponent in the GOP primary.

In a statement, Collins wrote: “As Lieutenant Governor, I’m committed to protecting and preserving our freedoms for the people who call Florida home. We cannot afford to turn that progress over to David Jolly.”

Collins appeared at Donalds’ campaign event Tuesday morning in Daytona Beach Shores.

Jolly, meanwhile, was not on the campaign trail Tuesday, but he has several events planned over the next few days.

He shared video on social media from his recent trip to Virginia, where he sought firsthand experience on data centers from Virginia residents of the area called “Data Center Alley.”

Jolly has repeatedly said he would enact a statewide moratorium on data center construction on Day One if he is elected, while suggesting Byron Donalds’ acceptance of donations from data center developers would lead to more data centers in Florida.

Trump defends his decision to start war against Iran

President Donald Trump returned to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday at a tumultuous moment for the world — and for his presidency — and made the case that he’s shown fortitude while other leaders have equivocated.

The president started his address ticking off progress — including adding private sector jobs, stemming illegal migration and curbing crime before turning to a fulsome defense of his decision to start a war with Iran.

Trump accused Iran of stalling to make a deal to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz and negotiate an endgame to the war until after the midterm elections in the United States

“I gave absolutely no credence and will not give credence to the election when it comes to Iran,” Trump said. “It doesn’t even enter my mind.”

Iran’s delegation walked out as Trump railed against the Islamic Republic.

Trump briefly spoke to reporters, telling them it was an honor to address the world’s body before his attention suddenly shifted to his resentments with the news media.

Trump over the weekend announced a White House ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico, claiming that their coverage of his presidency was biased. The news outlets have filed a lawsuit to restore their access to White House grounds. Trump snapped at a CNN reporter in the U.N. scrum.

“I’m surprised that CNN is here covering me,” Trump said. “You shouldn’t be here.”
