Orange County leaders approve $9B budget

Orange County leaders voted Thursday to approve a $9 billion budget.

The county commission passed the budget around 5:30 p.m. in a 6-1 vote.

The budget includes increased funding for public safety and new affordable housing. It also holds the millage rate flat, at the same rate it’s been since 2008.

A big concern on everyone’s mind is Amendment 3, the property tax vote on Nov. 3.

If the amendment is passed, the county has said it would decrease the budget for next year by $165 million, which could force future cuts to community services.
