Miami Spice, the annual restaurant promotion that’s now running a month longer than usual, aims to save you a little money at some of Miami’s best restaurants.
In October, ¡Salud! will do the same for cocktails at some of Miami’s most popular and award-winning bars.
Now starting its second year, ¡Salud! has enlisted its participants to offer select discounted cocktails on a special menu. Unlike Miami Spice, there’s no set price on any particular cocktail, although to take advantage of the deals you have to order them before 10 p.m. on specified nights. There will be no cheap drinks at midnight on a Saturday.
Instead, the promotion aims to highlight the best of individual spots across the county, like Miami Beach favorites Sweet Liberty, Swizzle Rum Bar & Drinkery and Rose Bar at Delano Miami Beach; Ball & Chain and Café La Trova in Little Havana; Fooq’s and Bar Bucce in Little River; Lost Boy Dry Goods, ViceVersa and Mama Tried in downtown Miami; Fox’s Lounge in South Miami; and JohnMartin’s in Coral Gables.
Restaurants across the county are also participating, including Macchialina on Miami Beach; Groot Hospitality’s Gekko and Komodo in Brickell and Casadonna in Edgewater; and Double Knot in Wynwood.
Gekko in Brickell is just one of the participants in this year’s Salud! promotion and will offer several $10 cocktails as part of it. World Red Eye
Each spot will offer three or four cocktails at steep discounts. The upscale Gekko, for example, will offer five $10 cocktails, from The Shadow Flower (400 Conejos mezcal, Luxardo bitter bianco, dry vermouth, espresso and coconut oil) to the White Moon (Lalo blanco tequila, grapefruit cordial, rosemary, grapefruit soda). Casadonna, Komodo and Papi Steak, also from Groot, will offer $10 drinks as well.
Other highlights include The Joyce’s Aperol and Sarti spritzes for $12 on Miami Beach and Bar Moxy’s $10 menu in Wynwood, which includes the Lalo apple cider margarita and a smoky maple sour with mezcal.
LP Steele, CEO of POPLIFE, is one of the team behind ¡Salud! along with Gabriel Urrutia, FIU Hospitality professor of spirits; Joshua Wagner of Wagner Hospitality, operator of Vecinos and Medium Cool; and World Red Eye’s Seth Browarnik. Steele said there’s “lots of excitement” from the bars and the sponsors about this year’s offerings, which will include special events.
“The first year showed us just how much Miami values its bar community, and this October we’re giving everyone more reasons to get out and socialize,” he said.
