Analog photography is getting a new home in St. Pete. On Saturday, October 10, Lakeland Film Lab will celebrate the grand opening of its highly anticipated new Grand Central District location. St. Pete photographers will finally have a local spot for all their film needs.

Founded in Lakeland in spring 2025 by husband-and-wife duo Nick and Elizabeth Buttrey, Lakeland Film Lab has quickly become a hub for film photographers looking to develop their craft and connect with others in the community. After so much success in Lakeland, they’re bringing the analog fun to us, opening at 2821 Central Avenue.

The lab is known for quality in-house film processing and scanning, but its focus goes beyond developing rolls. Through events and workshops, including intro film photography and darkroom classes, Lakeland Film Lab has introduced more people to the craft and helped the film community grow. Now, it’s bringing that same experience to St. Pete.

The new Grand Central location, right next to Cheeky’s Fish & Raw Bar, will offer the same services, including film developing and scanning, a selection of film and photography essentials to stock up on, and classes and events. The St. Pete shop will also introduce a community darkroom, giving local photographers a place to learn and experiment.

And because no creative gathering space in St. Pete is complete without coffee, the new location will also debut Grind, a coffee pop-up inside the shop. Visitors can grab a cup while dropping off film, browsing the space, or connecting with fellow photographers.

The grand opening will also mark the debut of Lakeland Film Lab’s first gallery exhibition at the St. Pete location. The lab put out an open call on their Instagram for film photographers to submit their photographs capturing the essence of Florida from their own perspective.

Join Lakeland Film Lab for its grand opening on Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop off a roll, grab a coffee, explore the gallery, and snap a photo in the custom St. Pete photo booth. Be sure to arrive early, as the first 25 customers will have a chance to win a special giveaway.
