Red Sox series finale against Cubs moved to Florida to avoid nor’easter
The Red Sox will play their last regular-season game in Florida because of a nor’easter moving toward New England.
Major League Baseball announced Friday that the Red Sox series finale against the Chicago Cubs will be relocated to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The game was originally set to begin at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, but it will instead be played at 3:05 p.m. on Sunday.
The forecast calls for heavy rain and strong winds over the weekend in the Boston area.
Anyone who bought tickets directly from the Red Sox will have their tickets refunded within seven days, the team said.
The Red Sox are scheduled to begin the postseason on Tuesday in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card series against the New York Yankees in New York.
