After neighbors at a Miami high-rise expressed concerns for the well-being of a dog seen on a balcony, the dog’s owner was arrested, animal services said.

According to Miami-Dade County Animal Services, they responded to complaints involving the dog at the Park Line condominium.

Animals services said the dog was picked up, and the owner was arrested.

Miami-Dade Jail records list Kevin Benjamin as being charged with animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill.

NBC6 has reached out to authorities for information on the arrest.

Video that went viral on social media showed the dog lying on the balcony floor.

Neighbors are concerned about the welfare of a dog at a Miami high-rise. Cellphone video shows a dog on the balcony of an upper floor at Parkline Miami. The woman who shot the video said you could see dog waste on the balcony.

Neighbors said that they have seen it there for several days, and its apparent thinness and the conditions of the space sparked suspicions of a possible case of abandonment or abuse.

Catalina Balzano, a neighbor and community member, explained that sharing the images led several people to organize.

“Seeing that situation, I think both the community and the building’s residents started to act. Many of us got in touch, and we’re doing everything possible to get the little dog out of the unit,” she said.
