NC State gets back to it this week with the chance to do something truly hilarious, which is to say, kill the Miami Hurricanes’ playoff hopes. This is an unlikely outcome, it’s true, but it sure is fun to think about.
Miami is coming off a 38-10 home win over Syracuse on Saturday, bouncing back from a 26-20 overtime loss at SMU the week prior. That trip to SMU remains the only game that Miami has played outside its home state. With two losses in league play, the Canes can ill afford a third if they want any chance at reaching the ACC title game.
NC State needs one more win for bowl eligibility, and who knows, maybe CJ Bailey is due an elite performance now that he’s playing back home for the first time in college. I’m sure he won’t be lacking for motivation. Miami has maybe the best defense that Bailey and State have seen this season, so a big game won’t come easily.
