🚍Bus Stop Forecast: Austin is tracking a cool morning, changes midweek for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia

  • September 28, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – You might need the jackets again this morning as you head out the door! Temperatures are starting in the 50s and 60s. More cool mornings through midweek. Warm afternoons stick around.

Fire danger today

The low humidity has made for a great feel to the air. However, with the below-average rain and moderate drought in place, fire danger is elevated. This means that fires can start a lot quicker, so be careful with flames.

Nice through Tuesday

This afternoon looks great! Low humidity and plenty of sunshine. No rain is expected. Highs climb into the upper 80s and low 90s.

Tuesday will be nearly the same as today, just a few more clouds and a stray coastal shower. Morning low near 60. Highs near 90.

The humidity returns…

Mid to late week, you will start to notice a change. Mornings will feel warmer and afternoons will be stickier. So summer-like weather is BACK after a taste of fall. Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Morning lows in the 70s.

Rain chances will slowly start to increase too, especially as we head toward your weekend. So if you need to get some yardwork done, the next two days are your best bet.

Beach and boating

Water temperature: 85

Monday: Sunny skies. Northwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Waves 1 foot or less. A light chop on the bays and protected waters.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers. Northeast wind turning southeast around 5 knots. Waves 1 foot or less. Smooth on the protected waters.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers. Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Waves 1 to 2 feet. Moderate chop on the bays and protected waters.

Tropics

Two areas on the Atlantic I am watching. Area number one is tropical depression Fay. Still churning out in the Atlantic. However, no threat to the U.S. as the weak tropical system continues to weaken.

Area number two is called Invest 91L. The cluster of thunderstorms and showers has a medium chance of development in the next 2 to 7 days. If this becomes organized, the tropical system would stay away from the lower 48 as well.

The Pacific stays active. Polo is a major hurricane, and its moisture is surging north along with remnant moisture of what was Odalys. The deep tropical moisture will lead to a flood risk across the southwestern U.S.

No landfalling storms are expected for the lower 48 in either basin.

Early October might get a little more active near Central America and the Bay of Campeche with thunderstorms and showers. The Climate Prediction Center is monitoring this area for possible tropical development, but nothing is likely right now.
