Major crash on Florida’s Turnpike south near Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — An apparent fiery crash on Florida’s Turnpike South is causing traffic delays near Fort Pierce.

According to FL511, the crash happened around 3:51 p.m. near Mile Marker 162.

The crash is currently blocking the right lane of traffic, narrowing the road to just one lane.

Footage shows the car drove off the roadway onto the grassy shoulder, driving through the guardrail.

Officials urge motorists to avoid the area or expect delays.
