SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Investigators recovered a body from the water amid a search for a missing swimmer at Wekiva Springs State Park on Monday evening, according to the Seminole County Fire Department.
A SCFD spokesperson told News 6 that the agency initially received a call about a man who was swimming at Wekiva Island but went underwater without resurfacing.
SCFD confirmed that it sent dive teams to search for the man, though he was ultimately discovered dead.
The incident appears consistent with an accidental drowning, according to investigators. Detectives found no suspicious circumstances and no indication that an alligator was involved, though the investigation remains ongoing.
The swimmer’s identity has not been released.
