TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – A wanted felony suspect was arrested Monday after Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies used a Grappler device to stop his vehicle on Interstate 75, authorities said.
Deputies located Darius Ford, 28, driving north on I-75 near East Fowler Avenue at about 12:41 p.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies slowed Ford’s vehicle before deploying the Grappler, the sheriff’s office said. The device wrapped around a rear tire and brought the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder.

Ford followed deputies’ commands and stepped out of the vehicle with his hands visible before he was arrested, according to the sheriff’s office.
He faces 16 felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance and 10 counts of providing false information after registration as a sexual offender.
