Here’s what’s new at Jacksonville International’s TSA checkpoint and how it could affect your next flight

  • September 30, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Travelers flying through Jacksonville International Airport are getting some new and expanded benefits aimed at making the security process easier, especially for military members and TSA PreCheck travelers.

One of the biggest updates is for active-duty military members and veterans.

TSA is now offering front-of-the-line screening at Jacksonville International Airport, no matter how long the line is.

“All you have to do is come up to the military lane with your active duty or veteran ID, you’ll show the individual your ID and they’ll take you to the front of the line, no matter how deep the line is,” said Daniel Velez, TSA Florida Spokesperson.

A new program called Gateside by TSA PreCheck is also launching at Jacksonville International Airport this Friday and it’s designed for PreCheck members who want to accompany a loved one through security, even if they aren’t traveling themselves.

“If you’re a TSA PreCheck member and you want to say goodbye to a loved one, but you’re not traveling and they are — if you sign up on TSA.gov and get a mobile dashboard pass and you’re a PreCheck member, you’ll be able to accompany them through security,” Velez said.

Just like any other passenger, you will still go through screening, but then you’ll be able to go beyond the checkpoint to say goodbye before a flight or greet a loved one as their plane arrives.

On busy travel days, the airport will cap the number of passes available to manage large crowds.

For parents, the program is especially appealing.

“As somebody with small children, I definitely think it’s beneficial to be able to walk them in and be with them until they’re safely on the aircraft or with airport personnel,” said Ben Avolis, a traveler.

TSA agents ask you prepare before you arrive, know what you can and cannot bring and take advantage of the programs available to you.
