Woman sentenced to 25 years in prison for murder of roommate, whose body is still missing

  • October 1, 2026

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orange County judge sentenced a woman to 25 years in prison Wednesday for the murder of the woman’s roommate, whose body has never been found.

Gisselle Victoria-Gonzalez, 44, pleaded guilty last month to the second-degree murder of Runyleidy Medina-Pacheco, who was last heard from on Christmas Day 2022.

“From the bottom of my heart, I am sorry,” Victoria-Gonzalez said Wednesday, addressing the court through a Spanish interpreter. “That moment, I wasn’t myself. I wish this could be a dream and at some point, I will wake up from this nightmare and everything will be back to normal.”

In an arrest affidavit from 2024, Orlando Police said Victoria-Gonzalez reported Medina-Pacheco missing on December 27, 2022.

As investigators probed further, however, they said Victoria-Gonzalez’s story of the events of December 25, 2022 was not adding up.

Victoria-Gonzalez eventually acknowledged to detectives that blood found in the apartment they shared belonged to “either her or Runy,” according to the affidavit. She also admitted stealing approximately $2,500 from Medina-Pacheco.

Police determined that Medina-Pacheco confronted Victoria-Gonzalez over the missing money on Christmas “which led to a physical altercation between the two,” according to the affidavit.

Investigators believed that Victoria-Gonzalez killed Medina-Pacheco during the fight and then “took steps, to include cleaning Runy’s blood, in an effort to hinder any investigation into her disappearance.”

Before Victoria-Gonzalez addressed the court, Medina-Pacheco’s family and friends delivered emotional victim impact statements.

After court, one of Medina-Pacheco’s cousins told News 6 his family is still pressing for answers about the whereabouts of his cousin’s remains.

“Is the defendant telling the truth or is there any possibility of seeing our cousin again?” Hector Perez Medina wondered.

Judge A James Craner’s sentence of 25 years included credit for time served of 665 days.

After the sentencing, State Attorney Monique Worrell issued the following statement:

“While no sentence can bring Runyleidy Medina-Pacheco back to her loved ones, today’s resolution provides accountability for the actions that led to her death. I want to thank the law enforcement officers who worked diligently to investigate this case and the prosecutors who worked tirelessly to pursue justice for Runyleidy and her family. Our thoughts remain with her loved ones as they continue to navigate this loss.”
