OVIEDO, Fla. – Amid a broader nationwide expansion, the popular toy store chain Toys”R”Us has plans to open a new location at the Oviedo Mall.
In a release, a representative for the mall says the upcoming store will be a year-round location, bringing the brand to Oviedo just in time for the 2026 holiday shopping season.
“For so many of us Toys’R’Us is tied to some pretty specific childhood memories — wandering the aisles, making a Christmas list and trying to convince your parents that you absolutely needed one more thing,” said Marketing & Events Director Josh Gunderson. “Getting to welcome Toys’R’Us to Oviedo Mall year-round feels incredibly special.”
Like many other shopping centers, the Oviedo Mall has struggled to reinvent itself, though news broke earlier this year that the mall has secured the required agreements to move forward with roughly 700 apartments on the property.

Those apartments are part of a broader effort to revitalize the mall with an evolving mix of shopping, dining, entertainment and community experiences, according to officials.
While that project continues, Toys”R”Us revealed its new store is expected to open in the fall — likely early October — with an official opening date set to be announced soon.
“Online shopping is convenient, but opening a cardboard box on your porch isn’t quite the same as being a kid standing in a toy store surrounded by possibilities,” Gunderson added. “We want Oviedo Mall to be a place where people actually want to spend their time, and Toys’R’Us fits beautifully into that.”
Other information, such as store hours and opening celebrations, has not been provided at this time.
