An intimate Michelin-starred restaurant in Miami Beach has announced its closing.

Known for its eclectic tasting menu, the Tambourine Room by Tristan Brandt, which opened in 2022, has closed at the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort in Miami Beach.

The oceanfront resort released a statement saying Sept. 30 was the final night of service for the restaurant, which earned its Michelin star in 2023 under chef de cuisine Timo Steubing.

“We are incredibly proud of what this intimate restaurant, Tristan Brandt, and the Tambourine Room team have accomplished,” the statement said. “As we look ahead, we will continue to consider how the space and our culinary offerings can best serve the Carillon community and the broader Miami community.”

Steubing left the restaurant at 6801 Collins Ave. in 2025, and after its summer hiatus, Tambourine Room reopened with chef de cuisine Logan McNeil at the helm. McNeil, a veteran of Jeremy Ford’s Michelin-starred Stubborn Seed, brought a “remarkable perspective to the kitchen,” according to Brandt.

One of McNeil’s signature dishes was the stunning Kyushu hamachi with mango, carrot and smoked chile oil, the meal’s second course.

Other highlights, all of them memorable, included Key Largo snapper with kombu jalapeño sofrito, zucchini and coconut curry beurre blanc; porcelet and caviar with rose apple, yukon espuma and potato chicharron; and venison tenderloin with confit celeriac, hearts of palm puree, toasted pine nut and fig jus.

Brandt is known for becoming head chef at Opus V restaurant in Mannheim, Germany, in 2013. The restaurant earned two Michelin stars, making Brandt the youngest chef in the country to lead a two-star kitchen at the time.

Tambourine Room isn’t the first Michelin starred restaurant to close in Miami-Dade: EntreNos in Miami Shores and Itamae Ao in Midtown Miami closed in 2025.

There are now 13 Michelin-starred restaurants in the Miami area: Ariete in Coconut Grove; Boia De in Little River; Cote in the Design District; Elcielo in Miami; Hiden in Wynwood; Le Jardinier in the Design District; Los Felix in Coconut Grove; Mutra in North Miami; Ogawa in Little River; Shingo in Coral Gables; Stubborn Seed in Miami Beach; The Surf Club Restaurant in Surfside and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in the Design District, Miami’s only two-star restaurant.
