Florida boy cited for riding unregistered motorbike, missed school for court

  • October 1, 2026

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – An 11-year-old boy is charged with one count of misdemeanor failure to register his motorbike after an incident on Labor Day, according to Oviedo Police. His father said the boy had to miss school to appear in court.

Police said the boy was too young to operate the motorbike. Officers said he could have faced about six violations.

Venice police warn riders may not know their e-bike is legally a motorcycle

Body camera video from the Labor Day incident shows an officer questioning the child about why he was riding the motorbike. According to Oviedo Police, the vehicle was not a standard e-bike.

“He’s driving a dirt bike, 4500 watts, 50 miles an hour. You know, this is a motorcycle, you know, you can’t be riding it, all right?” the officer said. “So just because you signed this ticket doesn’t mean you’re admitting to any guilt, okay, buddy?”

The boy’s attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. He is due back before a judge in December for the case to continue.
