FORT MYERS — The Edison and Ford Winter Estates is working with Audubon of Southwest Florida to offer a tour for anyone interested in learning about birds, according to a news release.
It takes place from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Oct. 17.
It will be lead by the plant curator at the Estates along with an experienced Audubon birding guide. Visitors will tour the property.
“While birding, guests will also have a chance to learn about the Edison and Ford families’ interest in wildlife, their excursions into Florida’s swamps and forests, and how Mina Edison fought to protect wild birds and what she did to attract birds to her own property,” the news release noted. “Following the tour, participants will be provided with a pastry and beverage from the on-site Banyan Café and have an opportunity to talk with fellow birders and guides.”
The tour is outdoors. Officials noted it is subject to cancellation if there is unfavorable weather.
“It is recommended that participants bring binoculars and drinking water, and wear closed-toe shoes,” it noted.
Those interested need to register at EdisonFord.org.
“Admission to the museum, laboratory or historic homes is not included. Tickets are $15 for Edison Ford members and $20 for non-members (includes a pastry and beverage),” it stated.
Edison and Ford Winter Estates is at 2350 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers.
