As midterm season rolls around, the seats at the library can fill up quickly. Luckily, there are a plethora of coffee shops around USF’s campus that make perfect study spots.

If you’re looking for a change of scenery (and a delicious drink) to give you that extra boost of academic motivation, these are some of the best study spots near USF. You’ll have wifi, caffeine, and enough space to balance screens and books alike. After years of finding study spots around the area, these are my top picks.

The best places to study around the USF campus in Tampa

Felicitous
11706 N 51st Street
Located right off USF’s campus on Fowler Avenue and 51st Street, Felicitous is an independent cafe tucked into a quaint purple house. Arguably one of the quirkiest and most unique coffee shops in Tampa, Felicitous has an array of delicious drinks, tasty snacks, and —just as important for studying—plenty of charging outlets.

Lunar Coffee
10929 N 56th Street
Just a quick 5-minute drive from campus, Lunar Coffee provides a sleek and sophisticated environment paired with an amazing selection of coffees, matchas, and pastries. It’s a quiet atmosphere to get some work completed, and the baristas are always friendly and ready to go with recommendations for you. It can get busy, so make sure to arrive on the early side if you want to grab a table!

Provisions Coffee
2816 E Bearss Avenue
If you want even more of a change of scenery from campus, take an 8-10 minute drive to Bearss Avenue, where Provisions Coffee provides you with a solid menu of drinks, meals, and a perfect combination of outdoor and indoor seating. Their breakfast burrito will definitely be the perfect brain food for your study session.

Kaleisia Tea
1441 E Fletcher Avenue #101
On Fletcher Avenue lies one of the USF area’s best hidden gems: Kaleisia Tea. Tea drinkers, this is the study spot for you. A relaxing atmosphere (perfect for some focused studying) meets an assortment of high-quality teas. Plus, after spending a few hours studying, you’ll be more than ready to enjoy their available selection of Asian-inspired meals.

Socotra Yemeni Coffee & Co
6860 E Fowler Avenue
Socotra is one of the most popular study spots for USF students, and for good reason. Not only is there ample space to study, but the menu is filled with unique drink options that you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in Tampa. If you want to ensure a quiet study space, you can even book their business room online in advance. The cherry on top? It’s located only a 6-minute drive from campus.

Mojo Books & Records
2554 E Fowler Avenue
Mojo Books & Records remains a staple store for USF students. If you’re going to be doing your homework, you might as well do it while surrounded by the smell of fresh coffee and old books. Sip your coffee while completing your assignments, and if you need a study break, you have an entire bookstore to browse right at your fingertips.

Front Porch Coffee
16190 Bruce B Downs Boulevard
Want to support a newer small business and enjoy some sun? The outdoor seating area at the Front Porch Coffee food truck is a perfect choice for when you want an outdoor study spot, especially when the weather gets cooler during the winter months. Their fun and comprehensive menu rivals any coffee shop with a traditional storefront.

Sorbo
2653 Bruce B Downs Boulevard, Suite 117
If you really need to lock in (with a delicious drink by your side), the 24-minute drive up to Sorbo Coffee in Wesley Chapel is 100% worth it. Whether you like coffee or matcha, their menu is incredible. Each drink is beautifully handcrafted and delicious. The only difficulty is deciding which of their amazing drinks you’ll order.
