After missing a full season due to a right knee injury, Florida Panthers captain Sasha Barkov left Thursday’s game against the San Jose Sharks with what looked to be an injury to his left knee.

Barkov was playing the puck up against the wall against Darnell Nurse and Zach Ostapchuk when his left leg buckled underneath him.

He was in the corner and pushed open the entry door to the rink immediately, going down the tunnel to the Florida locker room.

Barkov showed frustration in the moment, tossing his gloves to the ground as he limped to the room.

Moments earlier, Barkov drew a 4-minute high-sticking penalty on Kieffer Sherwood when he took a stick to the mouth.

Barkov was also slashed in the hand/wrist area, and missed the first leg of the double-minor as he was being attended to on the bench.

Florida was down 2-0 at the time of the injury.

The Panthers also played without defenseman Gus Forsling who was a late scratch after taking warmups.

Uvis Balinskis played in his place.
