TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The fall fronts are on the horizon, and so are the cooler water temps that follow. This is an exciting time for fishing in Tampa Bay because some of our inshore fisheries heat up. The snook, redfish, and trout fishery will be even better than it has been.

Black drum, flounder, and mackerel will also start to come to life and will be good to target. Stone crab season opens October 15th as well!

Boaters, beware of the buoys! Kingfish will also start their run up and down our nearshore waters over the next few weeks, with a few already around.

Captain Ryan Amaturo joined Amanda Holly on this week’s Reel Talk podcast to talk about how to target some of these fisheries.

They also chatted about some of the upcoming fishing tournaments in October and what proceeds they benefit from.

Amanda also showed off a somewhat rare Gulf catch, a sailfish! Captain Brandon Vaughan with Salty Dog Charters shared the video of the offshore catch from a couple of weeks ago and said it was his last line of the day that they were reeling in!
