LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University volleyball secured the opening set, but Jacksonville took the next three in capturing a 3-1 win Friday in Atlantic Sun Conference play in Knights Hall.

The Dolphins (7-8, 1-1 ASUN) won by scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-15. Abbie Tuyo and Claire Mrukowski had 10 kills apiece. Three different players registered at least 12 assists and three accumulated three blocks for Jacksonville, which hit at a .267 clip.

Freshman Mady Yaden amassed a match-high 12 kills for Bellarmine (7-6, 1-1). Sophomore Mya White added 11 and senior Natalie Bland was just shy of a double-double with nine and 16 digs. Freshman Maddie Carnes distributed a match-high 35 assists, junior Payton Parsons collected a match-best 18 digs, freshman Abbie Lyttle smacked four service aces and sophomore Mary Herman notched three blocks.

In the first set, consecutive service aces from Lyttle helped push Bellarmine to a 13-10 lead. A 4-1 run punctuated by a Yaden kill extended the advantage to 20-14 and kills from Bland and Herman sealed the set.

Bellarmine led 21-20 in the second set, but Jacksonville scored the next five points. The Dolphins then closed the third set strong — the Knights were within one when JU closed the frame by winning six of seven points.

A 6-0 run in the fourth set boosted Jacksonville’s lead to 10-3, and the Dolphins remained in control from there.

Bellarmine will host North Florida in an ASUN contest at 3 p.m. (ET) Saturday.
