Orlando City SC forward Tyrese Spicer is out of action after he was injured in international play for his native Trinidad and Tobago.

The 25-year-old underwent successful surgery to repair a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, Orlando City announced Friday in a press release.

The injury happened late in a match against Haiti on Sept. 24 in a CONCACAF National League group match. Spicer stayed in the game since Trinidad and Tobago had used all of its substitutions prior to the injury. Haiti won 3-2 in Kingston, Jamaica.

Dr. Steven Choung performed the procedure at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in downtown Orlando. It’s unclear whether Spicer will miss the remainder of the Orlando City season. The Lions have seven matches left in the regular season. Their next game is Oct. 10 at home against the Columbus Crew.

Spicer, in his first full season with the Lions after being traded from Toronto FC on Aug. 1, 2025, made 11 starts in 27 appearances across all competitions in 2026. In MLS play this season, Spicer scored six goals and added two assists in eight starts in 22 appearances.

Last season, he scored once and added two assists for the Lions. For Toronto in 2025, he scored twice. In his rookie season in 2024, he scored twice and had two assists for Toronto.

The Lions will miss Spicer’s offensive spark, whether as a starter or a super sub. Orlando City is in seventh place in the Eastern Conference of MLS and in playoff position, but the Lions are looking to solidify — and possibly improve — their standing as the regular season winds down.
