A man walking on train tracks was killed after a train struck him in Osceola County on Saturday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The report stated the train was traveling northbound around 7:21 p.m. on the railroad tracks west of Michigan Avenue approaching Garden Street.

The man was walking north within the inside of the train track and in the direct path of the train, the report said.

The train conductor attempted to avoid a collision and applied the emergency brake, but was unable to come to a controlled stop, striking the man with the front left portion of the train.

The conductor was not transported and remained on-scene, while the man was pronounced deceased on-scene.

FHP said the medical examiner’s office will contact authorities once the deceased is identified and the crash remains under investigation.
