A storm system in the southwestern Gulf is forecast to become Tropical Storm Isaias overnight and strengthen into a hurricane by late in the week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm track is likely to take a turn north and head toward the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama by the weekend. The impacts of Isaias could be felt from Texas to Florida.

Heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding are possible anywhere near the storm’s landfall. Forecasters warned residents from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle to watch the progress of the storm closely and have a hurricane plan in place.
