Bestselling author S.A. Cosby is coming to Historic Overtown for an evening of conversation with Miami District Five Commissioner Christine King.
King, who also chairs the Southeast Overtown Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (SEOPW CRA), is partnering with Books & Books and Liberty City’s Roots Bookstore & Market to host Cosby at the Historic Lyric Theater on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., according to a press release.
“Books are like movies in our minds. They transport us, allowing us to imagine things beyond our own experiences,” King said in the release. “I look forward to sharing this conversation with S.A. and our community.”

Cosby is known for Southern fiction that explores race, class, identity and justice. The conversation with King is expected to focus on Cosby’s latest work and themes in his crime fiction.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Commissioner King and the SEOPW CRA to bring S.A. Cosby to Historic Overtown,” said Mitch Kaplan, founder of Books & Books. “Books & Books has always believed in the power of bringing great writers and readers together, and we’re excited to be part of an evening that does exactly that in such a meaningful Miami community.”
Cosby is the author of the New York Times bestsellers All the Sinners Bleed and Razorblade Tears. His novel Blacktop Wasteland won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, while All the Sinners Bleed was selected for former President Barack Obama’s Summer Reading List.
Cosby’s latest work, Truth to Power: A Luke Cage Marvel Crime Novel, will also be available for attendees interested in purchasing a signed copy, according to the release.
A limited number of free admission tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees can also purchase admission tickets that include a copy of Cosby’s book.
