A mail carrier was arrested for driving under the influence while behind the wheel of a U.S. Postal Service vehicle in Fort Lauderdale, police said.
Fort Lauderdale Police officials said officers had responded to the 700 block of Northeast 17th Court around 8 p.m. Tuesday after a caller reported a marked USPS vehicle stopped in the roadway with the driver inside.
Officers arrived and found the driver, 32-year-old Eliezer Valcourt, who appeared to be intoxicated, police said.
A DUI officer responded and after further investigation, Valcourt was arrested on DUI charges and booked into jail, officials said.
NBC6 has reached out to the Postal Service for a statement and was waiting to hear back.
