Patrolling officers noticed a black car turn and swerve onto the curve right in front of a Pure Gas and Deli on Lake Bradford Road around 3:10 a.m., avoiding hitting a child.
Court documents say that upon arrival, officers found three kids, one in only a pair of jeans and the other two dressed in only soiled diapers.
Officers located the children’s residences and found three more unclothed children lying in one bed upon arrival, according to court documents.
The children were found unsupervised without an adult present. Officers were informed that Jakes had left to go to the store two hours prior.
Officers tried to locate clothes, only to find shoes and parts of clothing because the rest were wet and smelled of mildew, according to court documents.
Responding officers found the state of the residence to be unlivable, with feces, urine and half-eaten, spoiled food on the floor and no edible food in the refrigerator.

Jakes arrived at the residence around 6 a.m. and was taken into custody by officers, court documents say.
Jakes told officers she paid someone $150 a week to watch the children at her residence four times a week. The individual later told officers that Jakes did not pay him.
Court documents also say that Jakes claimed the house was clean the day prior, but the feces and urine on the floor did not match the time frame.
Jakes has been arrested on six charges of child neglect without great bodily harm. Tallahassee Police are currently investigating.
