A man was hospitalized with “life-threatening injuries” in a shooting in Fort Lauderdale late Wednesday morning, police said.
Officers found the man wounded by gunfire in the 1700 block of Northwest 13th Court shortly after 11 a.m., police said. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue paramedics took him to Broward Health Medical Center. Police have not released his identity.
Early in the afternoon, officers located a car in North Lauderdale they believe may be connected to the shooting and tried to pull it over, police said. The driver did not stop, and eventually got out of the car and ran away into a residence at Ann Lee Lane.
Officers took the person into custody “a short time later without issue,” Casey Liening, a Fort Lauderdale Police Department spokeswoman, said in a statement.
Detectives are investigating the person’s connection to the shooting, Liening said.
