CAPE CORAL, Florida — A Cape Coral man was arrested early Sunday morning after crashing his vehicle into a “Do Not Enter” sign, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. The incident occurred around 3:19 a.m. near the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and SW Pine Island Road.

Kevin Matthew Jones, a 45-year-old resident of Cape Coral, Florida, was identified as the driver of a gray Ford Bronco that rolled through the intersection and struck the sign, according to Lee County Emergency Medical Services. Officers detected signs of impairment when they made contact with Jones, who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. After performing field sobriety exercises, Jones was arrested for Driving Under the Influence with a breath sample of 0.164.

Jones faces charges including one count of Driving Under the Influence, 0.15 or Higher, and one count of Driving Under the Influence with Property Damage, in violation of Florida Statutes. He was taken to the Lee County Jail, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. The department emphasized its commitment to keeping impaired drivers off the roads and ensuring public safety.
