Cape Coral Bike Night is returning Saturday evening to Southeast 47th Terrace, featuring motorcycles, live music, food, and entertainment.
Preparations for the event are underway, with vehicle barriers placed along SE 47th Terrace sidewalks and signs prohibiting overnight parking.
Eric Abraham, owner of Soul Rebel Cycles in Cape Coral, shared his thoughts on the changes.
“No, it’s not the same. It’s definitely not the same event it used to be,” Abraham said.
Last year, motorcyclists were informed they could no longer park on SE 47th Terrace.
“I don’t really like it. But either way, you can’t deny it brings a lot of people, you know what I mean? So I don’t love it. I liked it the way it was before, but we still have a good time,” Abraham said.
The event, which takes place three times a year, has implemented the changes to enhance safety, according to Cape Coral police.
Jeremy Coon, owner of Lucky U Cycles in Fort Myers, expressed support for the new format.
“If that’s what they feel is best for us, you know, then let’s go that route. I think it’s a good thing,” Coon said.
For Coon, the event is more about the experience of riding and connecting with others.
“It’s all about the ride to get there and hang out,” Coon said.
Motorcyclists are now required to park at the Thunder Zone parking lot on SE 10th Place.
Abraham and Coon hope future changes will satisfy all attendees.
“Couldn’t really see it. It was like dark, kind of odd. But, you know, it seems like each time we go, they’re changing little things to make it better. I think they will,” Abraham said.
Cape Coral police are asking everyone to stay safe and act responsibly during the event, which begins at 5 p.m. Saturday and ends at 10 p.m.
