TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Hurricane Isaias caused three sewage spills in Tallahassee Friday night, according to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
The untreated wastewater spilled at three different locations in Tallahassee around 9:30 p.m., but crews reportedly contained the overflows within 10 minutes. FDEP says the areas were all cleaned and disinfected.
FDEP reports that 3,200 gallons spilled on Springhill Road, 250 gallons on Timberlane Road and 12,000 gallons on South Blair Stone Road.
One spill impacted Lexington Creek and Munson Slough above Lake Munson, per the state agency.
“Throughout the storm, crews actively managed wastewater flows across the City’s 114 lift stations using fixed and portable generators and redirecting flows as necessary to maintain operations,” FDEP said in a press release.
