A red-shouldered hawk is on the mend after being pulled from a storm drain during dangerous weather conditions in Florida.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue shared video of the hawk being rescued as heavy rain and rising water created dangerous conditions in the area.
The hawk was transferred to animal control for treatment and care.
Ark Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation posted an update on the hawk’s condition days following the rescue, saying the animal was nearly hypothermic and very weak after his ordeal.
The animal rescue said that despite the obstacles, the hawk has stabilized and is now eating on his own.
“We expect him to make a full recovery,” Ark Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation said. “What a survivor!”
