FORT PIERCE — Local artist Daniel Paul Carter has earned an ‘Accepted Art’ acknowledgment in the A.E. Backus Museum’s Best of the Best contest for his pen-and-ink drawing, ‘IBBY,’ featuring an ibis.

The recognition, presented Oct. 4, places Carter’s work among pieces selected for display in the museum’s Accepted Art gallery.

Carter’s drawing features a striking ibis whose eye appears to follow viewers as they move around the artwork. His technique combines freehand drawing, ink and airbrush work to create detailed, lifelike images.

Carter’s artistic interests include nature, perspective and realism. Over more than two decades, he has created works using a variety of materials, including canvas, airbrush paints, inks, fabric and wood. He also incorporates custom framing techniques into his pieces.

‘IBBY’ will remain on display through Nov. 13 at the A.E. Backus Museum, 500 N. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce.
